IOS Photos: App Evaluation

Over view

An Evaluation is an assessment where you are making the judgement about the amount, number, or value of something. In an evaluation you list how many criteria the subject needs to meet and the reason for your evaluation. to have an evaluation you should present the standards that are set by the subject and the standards it does not meet. And in the end you will compare and contrast the subject to other subjects similar to it.

-Introduction

IOS (formerly iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc. exclusively for its hardware. It is the operating system that presently powers many of the company’s mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It is the second most popular mobile operating system globally after Android by sales. iPad tablets are also the second most popular, by sales, against Android since 2013, when Android tablet sales increased by 127%.

Originally unveiled in 2007 for the iPhone, it has been extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPod Touch (September 2007) and the iPad (January 2010). As of June 2016, Apple’s App Store contained more than 2 million IOS applications 725,000 of which are native for iPads. These mobile apps have collectively been downloaded more than 130 billion times.

The IOS Photos app is one of the many apps that comes with an Iphone. The Photos app is a repository for all the pictures and videos you shoot or save with your iPhone or iPad. Not only can you use the Photos app to organize and find those special moments and memories you’ve captured, but you can use it to share them directly, through social networks, on the big screen, as prints, and more. You can also edit them to enhance their looks, add filters, fix red-eye, and crop them just so. And that’s not just with the built-in tools — thanks to photo and video extensions, you can also download third-party filters and effects as well.

-Evaluation

During my evaluation of the IOS Photos app I decided to evaluate it according to two major types of criteria:

-Basic criteria:

        -Costiphone-v-iphone-6-plus

The IOS App is free on any APPLE.Inc product Such as an IPhone, Apple Watch ,ect. But you have to buy the APPLE product. The oldest Apple IPhone cost $50 on Ebay but for the newest IPhone the IPhone 7 Plus in Rose Gold from Verizon with 256 GB of storage is $969 From the Apple Store online as of 11/20/16.

        -Accessibility

The Accessibility of the IOS Photos app is only available to those who obtain An Apple product. Once you have an Apple product you are able to use the app as lone as your phone is charger and working efficiently.

         -Aesthetics

The app design has come a long way since the Iphone 1st Generation. From the 1st  Iphone to the Iphone  5c the icon was a Yellow Sunflower with a Blue background.  But since the Iphone 5s, The icon has been a rainbow flower with all of the colors of the rainbow. With this change  the Apple company made the app more attractive and appealing to the eye than a boring sunflower.

Major versions of IOS are released annually. The current version, IOS 10, was released on September 13, 2016. It runs on the iPhone 5 and later, iPad (4th generation) and later, iPad Pro, iPad Mini 2 and later, and the 6th-generation iPod Touch. In IOS, there are four abstraction layers: the Core OS, Core Services, Media, and Cocoa Touch layers. IOS 10 dedicates around 1.8GB of the device’s flash memory for itself. You can also organize all of your photos under different groups. Apple generically has 9; All  Photos, Favorites,People, Places,Videos,Selfies , Slo-Mo , Screenshots, And recently Deleted. But you can add more if you wish. It is relatively easy to locate the app and to used but the hardest part about the IOS photos app is the ICloud. It’s so difficult and complex and you have to take the time to sit down and learn it. For you have to make an Apple ID. you make that when you first get an Iphone. Now here’s when it gets tricky. Once you sign in to it on your phone, any pictures, videos, contacts, mail, any thing on your Calender , ect. that have backed up on your phone go to “The Cloud”. Now once it’s in the cloud its supposed to be accessible to you forever. But what apple doesn’t explain is that your Apple ID is just a Google  or Yahoo Email. so When you get a new phone and you log into your Apple ID all of your pictures and videos and contacts sync to your new device. And you can view them online by Logging in on google, going to the top right corner and clocking the cube that has been divided into ninths. Click that and a drop bar will appear. Go down to the bottom where you have a yellow, red, blue and green icon labeled Photos and click it. Once you click it, All of the photos that have been saved to that account will appear.

will take you to all the photos and videos saved to that Apple ID/ Google/ Yahoo account. If the Apple company would have just the directions in laments terms then it wouldn’t seem so hard.

           -Functionality

The IOS user interface is based upon direct manipulation, using multi-touch gestures. Interface control elements consist of sliders, switches, and buttons. Interaction with the OS includes gestures such as swipe, tap, pinch, and reverse pinch, all of which have specific definitions within the context of the IOS operating system and its multi-touch interface. Internal accelerometers are used by some applications to respond to shaking the device (one common result is the undo command) or rotating it in three dimensions (one common result is switching between portrait and landscape mode). But when you reach your storage amount you aren’t even allowed to open you camera until you purchase more data or delete Pictures and/or Videos.

          -Specific Criteria

The Main App that is in composition with the IOS Photos app is The Android Photos App.

          -Cost

Now the Android photos app only comes with Android devices as well but the newest androids is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. And A gold one with the highest amount of storage (32GB) is $792 opposed to the iPhone’s $969.

         -Accessibility

With both the IOS Photos app and the Android Photos app you have to hate the phone from the specific company. These apps are not available on the app store.

         -Aesthetics

The IOS  Photo app is much more appealing to the eye that the Android Photo app. It has more color and it catches your eye faster.

          -Efficiency

The Android Photo’s App is easier to use but it also doesn’t have as many features as the IOS Photo’s App. So it depends on what you want : Options or Efficiency.

         -Functionality

The IOS Photos app updates more frequently than the Android Photos App does. By updating frequently Apple is able to catch more bugs and viruses and problems quicker than Android does.

-Personal Evaluation of App

Personally I love IOS More  than any other Photos app. I love the variety that I get when i use it and now that ive learned to use the ICloud It’s even Better. W would have loved if Apple would have had easier directions to their products but I still love them and they make my life easier.
